method
1. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl.
2. Make a well in the centre of the flour, and add the oil or butter and a little of the water.
3. Gradually work in the flour from the sides, then beat until smooth.
4. Stir in the rest of the water. Alternatively, use a blender.
5. Put the milk and egg into the goblet. Add the flour and salt and blend until smooth.
6. This makes a firmer batter suitable for fish fillets, fish and meat cakes, and meat.
7. Just before using, sprinkle on the baking powder and give the batter a final beat.
