2 medium eggs
6 tbsp double cream
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 orange, rind finely grated
4 slices thick day-old white bread, halved or 2 croissants
unsalted butter for frying
fruit or fruit compote to serve
icing or caster sugar to dust
method
1. Whisk together the eggs, cream, caster sugar and orange rind and dip the bread in the mixture. Heat the butter in a frying pan and fry the bread until golden on both sides.
2. Serve with fruit or a fruit compote and dust with icing sugar.
