Clapshot (Bashed Tatties)

Clapshot is a traditional accompaniment to haggis.

ingredients

serves 4
1 lb (450 g) potatoes
1 lb (450 g) swede (rutabagas)s
salt and pepper to taste
2 oz (50 g) dripping (fat from roasted meat)
1 tbsp chives, chopped

method

1. Cook the potatoes and swedes together until tender.

2. Drain well and mash. Add the seasoning and beat in the dripping.

3. Stir in the chopped chives and serve piping hot.
