1. Arrange the lettuce on four individual serving plates.
2. Blend the oil, vinegar or lemon juice and a little seasoning together.
3. Halve the avocados, peel and remove the stones.
4. Place on the lettuce leaves, cut side down; slice carefully.
5. Arrange the tomato and cheese slices on the lettuce.
6. Top with the dressing and the marjoram. Serve immediately.
