1. For the tempering, heat the ghee in a pressure cooker; add cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Saute for 30 seconds.
2. Add green peas, potatoes, cauliflower, onions, and green chilli-ginger paste. Saute for a few minutes, or till the vegetables are a little tender.
3. Add the drained split green gram and broken wheat, black peppercorns, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir-fry for 4 - 5 minutes.
4. Add hot water and pressure cook for 3 - 4 whistles.
5. Allow the steam to escape, then open the pressure cooker carefully.
6. Stir vigorously, adding a little more hot water, if required, so that the split green gram and the broken wheat mix well. Adjust seasoning, if required.
7. Serve hot.
