1. Heat the ghee in a wok (kadhai); add the first three ingredients and gently fry for 5 - 10 minutes.
2. Add 1 1/2 cups water and cook till all the water is absorbed and the dals are soft. Add salt, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, and rice. Mix well.
3. Add the remaining water and cook on low heat until all the water is absorbed and the rice is done.
4. Serve hot.
