Beef Cobbler

Beef Cobbler
Anaru
Beef no good. Beef dry.
April1
There was no oven temp for this recipe so i assumed it was the same as the beef stew.
Neil
Moderate oven (180°C/350°F or Gas Mark 4)
Lovely recipe for beef cobbler.
Michelle
My 8 year old son had beef cobbler at school and asked me to make it at home for him. I found this recipe and made it today, it was beautiful. My son loved it and gave it a 9 :0) and I'd give it 10.

Being Welsh I added leek to it too, and because i've recently lost 10 stone i chose not to have the topping. Delicious, we'll definatley have it again. Thanks

Beef casserole with red wine

I tried this recipe out on my family last weekend and they all loved it!! I have never cooked with shallots before and although I did not enjoy peeling them one bit, it was worth it. The taste of the whole dish was an explosion of flavours, shallots definately taste better then onions, the wine, the flavour of the bacon, it was absolutely delicious. I will certainly be cooking this receipe again.

Diane Gill
I cooked this recipe for the first time last weekend and whilst I changed a few of the ingredients it was largely as per the recipe. very tasty and the longer the cooking time the better. Will definitely cook again
Tracy
I finally sat down and tasted my beef casserole and it was lovely, very very tasty...will definitely cook this again...i agree with diane gill, longer the cooking time the tastier it will be...
M. Romano
Made this loads of times now and its simply amazing.

Cumberland Pie

Margaret Thatcher
I've made this for years and always thought it was cottage pie!
Christine Hall - Birmingham
So exactly what is the difference between Cumberland Pie and Cottage Pie. And is there a difference between Cottage Pie and shepherds pie?
June from Weston super Mare
I'm sure Cumberland Pie has pickle included in the recipe making it different from Shepherds Pie (with minced lamb) and Cottage Pie (with minced beef). the way to remember the difference between these last two is shepherds look after sheep - hence lamb/shepherds pie.
Sarah
Just glancing through the ingredients, I wondered "where are the carrots?". Then saw them written into Method. Suppose 2-3 carrots, but are they better grated or sliced?

SLICED DEFINITELY

Nikola Bailey and Pauline-May Bailey
My nine year old daughter pauline-May and I made this one saturday afternoon and we all had some of it for our evening meal with steamed vegetable and it went down very well. Will be doing it again thats for sure. Doesn`t cost the earth and with ingredients we had in either the fridge the freezer or the cardboard. Brilliant recipe thank you Pauline-May and mum Nikola xx
Jo
Made this last night with my 7 yr old daughter! Didnt need much to fill the belly! Very tasty indeed! Nice to have a recipe where you have all the ingredients in the house and not all these fancy things youve never heard of! Definately become a regular meal in my household!
Helen Lambert
We have made it before lots of times but were making it again we love it :D:D very very tasty :D

Indian Kebab

Tay
I don't see egg in ingredients! Very confusing for a complete cookery novice like me. Recipe sounds good though, I'll try it tomorrow.

Whoops! Fixed

Beef Stew

April1
DUHHH!!! ever tried not putting the tomatoes in. Recipes aren't set in stone ya know *rolls eyes*
Dolly
Being a 19 year old girl and being interested in cooking I was looking for a basic stew recipe. I too do not like tomatoes but with a few tweaks to the recipe and some use of common sense I made a really nice stew. I think its a good recipe for first time stew makers!
Chef161
This is a Casserole not a stew. Stew is cooked in a pan on the hob, casserole in a casserole dish in the oven.
Josh
Guys, honestly. If you don't like the stew, just say what it needed, and that's it. Doon't go dissin something because it has something your alergic to, be smart.. and take it from the recipe, or be dumb and chirp.

Rissoles

Johanna Pearce
Serve with red cabbage and raisins
Steve Ross
Would have thought that an addition of Swede and Pearl Barley might boost the recipe somewhat.
Guy Howard
I loved rissoles as a kid and I always thought that pearl barley was included. Indeed, that is how I knew the difference between a rissole and a fishcake!
Sarah howard
I love rissoles they are the best tasting food eva i like to mix things up by adding diffrent things into it to make it taste diffrent with a little diffrent flavour.
My family likes them and they enjoy what i cook for them and they like the diffrent flavours that i make with the rissoles and they enjoy it so i cook them every second day of the week.

Shepherd's Pie #5

Shepherd's Pie #5
Bob
Surely... its not lamb
Carol
I always thought that it was Shepherd's Pie was made with lamb and Cottage Pie was made with beef!! I guess somewhere along the line there was some confusion :)
Becky
Shepherd's pie is made with lamb (hence 'shepherds') cottage pie is made with beef :)
Wicksy
Does it matter?? Hamburgers are made from beef!! How about getting a life yeah?

Braising Steak Stew with Dumplings

TH
Nice, but why no potatoes?
Tigara
There is no need for potatoes due to the dumplings.
Martina
Made mine with potatoes and kidneys added also. Delicious!!!
Anne
Poatatoes thickens the gravy and you need sweed in it to, cut little chunks or the sweetness of the gravy and big chunks for the satisfying taste of vegeatble.

Cottage Pie

Traditional Cottage Pie recipe and other recipes inc. Easy Cheesy Cottage Pie, Country Pie, Chiltern Country Pie.
Chris
Add a grated carrot and a clove or two of crushed/grated garlic to get extra flavour going (during step 1). This dish is a great way to get kids eating veg without knowing it!
Derv done
This is a nice recipe for a healthy and enjoyable meal.
Dennis
Amazingly easy, healthy, and a tasty all-in-one dish.
Eoghan
I added a 2 bay leaves to meat when putting into oven... tasted gooood

Aubergine Moussaka

Janet
The recipe under "Greek Recipes" is much better than this one.
Sharron
Great recipe, simple ingredients really easy to make. Thanks
Ali1
This recipe clearly states 2 eggs
Alma
Nice quick recipe good with some oregano. Thank You

Chilli con carne

Chilli con carne
Phil odonnell
If anyone's not keen on kidney beans, i substituted them for a tin of baked beans at the end of cooking time and it worked well
Nicki
I added cumin powder to this as well which made it even better! Very easy to make, wonderful in flavour, fool proof... well recommended
Feefo
What's not to like about kidney beans - they taste of nothing!!? I added worcester sauce to give it a bit of depth. Yummy!
Mike
I'ts a good idea to rub some oil into your hands before handling fresh chllis - it stops the juice from penetrating into your skin

I add ground corriander, cumin & basil too

Classic Chilli Con Carne

Rigby
You don't use minced beef.. you think the mexicans had mincing machines
just beef chunks.. there's no chillis in this recipe.. what?
you brown the meat seperately from the sauce
in the sauce you need to toast the outside of the skins before adding them
you much up half the kidney beans this helps release starch and thicken the sauce

chocolate.. you need at least 70% cocoa solid.. but don't use too much

NO PARSLEY OR CINNAMON (seen that in other recipes).. what spacker came up with that idea

there's something else but i'd have to kill you if i told you.. make your way to rigby's place for the real deal.. london soho
Amateur chef
Some angry comments there! not everyone is as knowledgeable as you, or perhaps pretentious? or else they wouldnt be looking up the recipie.
Intuition
Its a basic recipe, if you know how to cook, you also know you can adjust this recipe according to your personal taste. No need to be offended by it.
Young Cook
Why would a person that knows how to cook a recipe then go and look it up...? :-S
Just to be-little a person that writes a simple yet classic version of a nice recipe or maybe just to try and brag onto a load of unnecessary additional ways to cook it?

It could have been simply suggested to add other ingredients or ideas but instead was put forward in a rubbish manner.
Sorry but, whats retarded...? More like who.

Its a nice, basic / classic and finer way of cooking Chilli Con Carne. Obviously all sorts can be added to any recipe. Each persons shall no doubt be different (-:

Beef Lasagne/Lasagna

Nick
Lasagne sheets missed off the list of ingredients!
Micky
Add some peppers and a little chilli puree to add a little bit of spice to the recipe.
Matthew
I guess it's kinda obvious if you want to make a lasagne that you buy lasagne sheets!
Athena
They didnt have lasange sheets but if your making lasange you obvisly need lasange sheets !! lol

Beef Cannelloni

Andrew
"2 x 500 g tubs four cheese sauce" the for should be spelt like "for" not "four"
and good recipe anyway
Jo
The "four" is correct coz the sauce has 4 different types of cheese in it. Sorry to correct your correction, but, in this case , there is NO spelling mistake !!!
Tim
Its a shame, a lovely recipe but i do not think i will be using any pre bought cheese sauce mix! its so easy to make cheese sauce yourself! flour butter milk and cheese et voila!
Joy Early
Thanks for a great recipe - and whats is wrong with pre-made cheese sauce!!

Beef Stir Fry

Easy Cheesy Cottage Pie

Lissi
Edible but underwhelming. I wish I knew why...
Cassie
I made too much potatoe and mince, so decided to eat them seperatly whilst waiting for the pie to cook. They taste better seperatly than together.
PEPERMINTPARK
Does any one know of a low fat version of cumberland pie other than replacing full fAT CHEESE FOR LOW FAT
Dragonfly
Greatly improved by using grated Cheddar instead of cream cheese in the potatoes - and I also stirred in a tbsp of chilli sauce!

English Rib Roast

Midge
The English would alwyas eat this roast hot with gravy, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding
Sandie
I am English and I have never heard of putting the roast in the refrigerator before carving. Yuk it sounds horrible. What we do is to take the Roast out of the oven and let it stand for a short time prior to cutting.
Steve
I expect this is a bit like french toast and english muffins... try slowly roasting your ribs at about 160c, 200c is way too high!
Maria
Like midge i also eat it with sunday roast trimmings and make the gravy with juices NOT horseradish sauce!

Spaghetti Bolognese #2

Our second Spaghetti Bolognese dish, delicious Quick bolognese recipe for 4.
Spaghetti Bolognese #2
Hog
This recipe was amazing!
Susan A
I agree, Superb recipe, fabulous taste, will be making this Bolognese again and again.
Sean
A great recipe. I've found that a dash of Worcester Sauce and a beef stock cube (try not to get a salty one) are useful additions, and try grating the carrot. If the sauce is too runny for your liking, one to two tea spoons of plain flour just thickens it very slightly.
Jessica
Great recipe could of added a few spices to give it a twist
