Baked Lemon Sole
 |
Catherine MuK
I didn't add the parsley, just panfried it. Simple, but oh so effective.
|
Marj
Enjoyed it very much - extremely simple and delicious. Just wondering why it's caled Baked Lemon Sole, since the recipe directs that it be broiled - ?
|
Aurora Sprincz
I loved it, so simple to do. Broiled means "baked" at high temp., quickly.

I've just spent a short time preparing this dish, its in the oven right now! It looked amazing before going in, can't wait to try it!
|
Eif
Wow, what a dish! I used 2 smaller fish, and halved plumb tomatoes to serve 2 hungry people! Served up with a baked potato, and garnished with baby leaf salad. I also added a glug of white wine vinegar to the juices left in the roasing tin, to make a nice vinegarette to drizzle over the dish.

Baked Lemon Sole with Parmesan Crust
 |
Michael
We were expecting a result that would have dried out the fish but to our delight, it was quite moist and tender. It appears that the crust (dry & fat combo mixture) acted as a blanket, keeping the moisture sealed within the sole during the bake period. My wife and I were initially hesitant to try this out. In fact, we considered breading the sole to fry instead of baking it. Still, it turned out to be a lovely meal and would certainly recommend it to others who want something simple to prepare and prefer the less exotic concoctions.
|
Andrea
I decided to try this recipe when my husband decided to thaw out some filets he had in the freezer. I am not particularly fond of fish, but tried this recipe anyway. It was really good, and fish was tender and not too fishy tasting. I expected the fish to be dry, but it was excellent.
|
Nicky
Having never cooked lemon sole before, I thought this recipe was nice and simple. The end result was fantastic - moist fish with a tasty crunchy topping.
Will definately be cooking this one again!

I had frozen Dover Sole also thawed them in cold water. Made the bread crumb mixture but added some lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley to the mixture..Patted it on top of the sole and baked in a 400 oven for 25 mins. It was crispy, juicy and delicious. Plus so easy to prepare. I did spray my pan with Pam and I think that helped keeping the fish from sticking to the bottom.

Hake Florentine
 |
Donna Munns.
Lovely recipe, very tasty, but spinach is best steamed for 2-3 minutes in a small amount of water. Also you may need more than two tomatoes depending on how big your oven proof dish is, i used four large tomatoes.
|
Jeanette Aquilina, Malta
Just now i cooked for all the family, i have just done the process of the oven that is seasoned the Hake, and baked it. I have boiled some spinach and done some mash potatoes cuz i needed a quick recipe done in a few minutes.. next time will surely try it with the sauce, oh and i poured the juice on the hake and also the spinach :)

An easy dish to cook. I have made it several times and everyone has really enjoyed it. It can be made using different fish and cheese if those specified are not available. I have used pollock and mozarrella cheese.

Coley Provencale
 |
Carol
I have a "thing" about coley - particularly the strong smell when it comes fresh from the fishmonger.
This recipe was excellent, because the taste of the fish was present, but the provenƒÂ§al mixture (fruits and vegetables from our garden) enhanced the otherwise sometimes negative coley . I shall cook this again!

Over complicated way of cooking fish and making sauce.why not use the liquid from the fish to make the sauce? easy to do if the fish is cooked in milk.
also needs a vegetable to make a balanced meal,in my opinion eg brocolli, peas to add colour

Satay Prawns

The Geoff
Great recipe (one of my favourites), so here's a quick version for the sauce (serves 2-4)
1 Jar smooth peanut butter
Chilli to taste
1 tbsb sesame oil
Juice of 1 lime
Finely chopped fresh ginger
Soy sauce to taste
Blend together. Simple as that. Don't worry about the proportions too much, it's mostly a matter of taste, as long as there's enough fluid to make it 'dippable'. It benefits from sitting in the fridge overnight if you can wait that long. If you leave out the peanut butter it's a fantastic marinade.

I cooked it according to the recipe and by the end the rice was still virtually raw. I ended up cooking it on the hob for further 20 mins before it was even edible. I would normally cook brown rice on the hob for about 35 mins, so perhaps you mean easy cook brown rice, in which case you should amend the recipe.

David G San Diego
I live in San Diego, and have been looking for fresh MONKFISH after having it for the first time in an upscale Chicago Eatery last year. Found it at the ZION marketplace on Mercury Street in San Diego.... very fresh... and your recipe... perfect..I had no Idea of the best way to cook it i used Sesame Oil instead of olive oil and also rubbed in some cavenders... I served it room temperature with a splash of soy sauce and finely minced chives... ohh how wonderful...
OHH... Side Note... when skinning... note there is a membrane under the skin, you can leave it on or peel it off.... definately score it a few times...

Grey Mullet Stuffed with Pine Nuts
 |
Mystic
I followed the quantities and had two grey mullet fish weighing a touch over 2kg (approx 4 1/2lbs). there was plenty of filling left over. Grey Mullet do not have a massive body cavity for stuffing so left the remaining filling outside the fish in the parcel.
I have a fan oven and even at 200 deg C it took 35 minutes.
Grey mullet is somewhat like mackerel although not quite as pily (or indeed nice) when fresh. The cinnamon was too overpowering and I would recommend that it is reduced to 1/8th teaspoon. Nice dish all the same and the meat fell off the bone.
