Soups

I have just made this soup with my children (aged 5&6yrs). Whilst it was absolutely beautiful the quantities were not correct. I followed the recipe accurately but the above quantities only provided 4 small portions of soup (for lunch). I will definately do the soup again but will double up on the quantities.

Must agree with Nicola, only 2lbs of vegetables between 6 people ? not enough at all .... try taking out the artichokes and use something like Broccoli too.

As a novice cook I made this soup and it tasted absolutely fantastic. I agree with the comments - double up on the quantaties and there'll be enough for 6 people as a starter.

This soup is lovely, i made the stock quantities a bit more and then added dumplings. Lovely.

I tried this soup in a local farm shop and it was delicious. I found this recipe and thought I would give it a go. It was easy to make and actually tasted like the cafe version. If not better!!!

This has got to be my favourite soup of all time. We found this receipe in the Dairy Diary quite a few years ago now and have been making it ever since! You must try this!

I found this recipe (without the garlic I think in the fabulous TeaPot Trail series of recipe books (UK).
Instead of thinly sliced courgettes as garnish - visually coherent, but tasteless - I prefer a paper thin slice of lemon "butterflied" on each serving with a tiny sprig of fresh mint. These two garnishes when swirled into the soup add a perkiness which complements the creaminess of the courgettes and milk and offset the smokiness of the cumin. Worth trying!

I think this recipe is brilliant. my kids loved it because they thought it was a good way to stay healthy

The recipe is very nice, but all you need to add to make you web a lot nicer is how long it will take to make the soups ;-). it will help people know and fit in the time for the making off the soup.

The things you have are realy nice but, i think what will make it better will be if you have a graph showing how many people liked this soup, and orther soups. then people would have an idea to now if they would like it :-) .

This was absolutly disgusting, the chicken stock and tomatoes seriously didn't mix well and gave it a fatty taste - not for me.

Its ok but could of been a bit more detailed when explaining how to cook it. As it didn't make much sence and could be more helpful!!!!

It is a good recipe and is very quick and easy to cook.

A straightforward and simple recipe.

Be very careful with the amount of sweetcorn used. It is easy to overpower the crab's delicate taste, which is a shame as the ingredients work out expensive.

Three contrasting flavours that go together really well. Much hinges on the ripeness of the tomatoes.

This is a really good soup - the sherry added towards the end of cooking really does bring together all the flavours. Will definitely make this again and again. It went down well!

This recipe is similar to stew my mother cooked when I was a child. She also added parsnips and then thickened the stew with a little cornflour.

Trully cracking dish

I substituted leeks for the onions and it gave this chowder a great flavour.

I had a group of guests for my 67th birthday, and this recipe saved my bacon (it helped) My fridge had broken, and these were the only ingrediants I had which were not ruined.

I used creme freche instead of cream and thickened the soup with cornflour and water at the end of the cooking time as it was a little runny for my taste. I used ordinary closed cup mushrooms and added chestnut for extra flavour... mmm very tasty!

This is a fabulous soup to replace sorbet at a dinner party for those amongst us who can't have sugar

This recipe sounded absolutely disgusting but when i made its actually deliciuos so thanks for telling me about them.

Personally, I found it very strange that this recipe did not instruct you to blend the soup because it certainly requires it!
Also, I found the soup incredibly bland, maybe due to the lack of stock. In order to add more flavour after I had blended the soup, I added some stock, a LOT more pepper, nutmeg and cayenne pepper.

It's in the brown stock

Add a little mustard as this will enhance the flavour and instead of using milk try water or vegatable stock its not as sickly.

The almonds in the list... where should they feature in the recipe?

Really loved the flavour, but thought it was too creamy. next time will try with less cream or maybe low fat yoghurt instead

My husband is not a "soup man", but when I served this soup he waxed lyrical about how wonderful it was and if I didn't make it again he'd divorce me!! Hm now...! I'm making it again as I type!

Wow it tastes good even without the cheese but when you add it, it becomes divine!
